Last week for the first time I tried Palak Paneer. Even though I 'm not a big fan of vegetables and especially green leafy vegetables, I decided to try this because I heard a lot of good reviews about this dish. It is basically spinach and cottage cheese curry. The spinach is first blanched and then put in a processor to make the paste. And then different types of Indian spices and pan seared cottage cheese is added to make this delicious dish. It is finished with cream as garnish.

Now I would like to do the sensory evaluation of  this dish:

Taste : Since its a spinach dish, it was a bit bitter. Since it had had a lot of Indian spices it was also hot. Also it had the milky sweetness from the cream, which was used as garnish. The cottage cheese was well compliment by the spinach gravy

Smell : When the dish came to my table I felt like I open the container of garam masala(mixture of grounded Indian spices).

Sight : Palak paneer is gravy in consistency with dark green color.

Touch : Since its a gravy, I felt like touching a liquid.

I liked the taste of the dish. Since the spinach was blanched, the bitterness was very less. Also the cream compliments the spinach very well.

I enjoyed Palak Paneer with Naan roti. Naan roti is an Indian bread.

I would surly eat it again because being a hardcore non vegetarian, I liked this dish very much. Also since I rarely have a vegetable intake in my diet, this will be a good source of vegetable in my diet.

I really enjoyed the mixture of spinach flavor with Indian spices. Also the cottage cheese and the cream added more flavor to the dish.

This has been a very good experience for me because being a meat eater, I was always skeptical about vegetarian dishes. But after this, I will surely start trying more vegetarian dishes. I think I will be more open to all kind of dishes rather than only meat dishes.

Lamb chops : My favorite cut in lambs

Lamb Chops I'm a hardcore Non-vegetarian who likes to eat all types of meat available in market. When it comes to meat I like beef, pork, lambs, chicken etc, but lamb meat is my favorite. In lamb, the best part for me is lamb chops. I like cuts with bones because I think they have more flavor than boneless meat.                                                         Photo Credit : http://www.lindasitaliantable.com Lamb is sheep meat which is under one year old. Sheep is generally divided into three types : lambs. hogget and mutton. In this, lamb is the most expensive sheep. Fruit Hunter

Bosc Pear I visited No frills market in Ennerdale road to select my fruit for the blog.I tried to visit St Lawrence market but it was closed since it was Monday. So I decided to visit No frills market near my house. I saw a lot of fruits like Dragon fruit, red plum, pomegranate etc. , but I decided to choose bosc pears because I have never seen that in India. Even though we have D'Anjou in India, I have never seen bosc pears in India. So I was very excited to choose this fruit even though it is common in North America. Brief summary of Bosc Pear : The Beurré Bosc or Bosc is a cultivar of the European Pear grown in the northwestern U.S. states of California, Washington, and Oregon; Australia; as well as in British Columbia, Ontario and Europe, where it is sometimes called Kaiser. The Beurré Bosc was cultivated first in France. The name Bosc is given after a French horticulturist named Louis Bosc.  It is called the "aristocrat of pears".It is sui

Hug a Farmer

Farmers are the most important people who contribute in each and everyone's life.We buy food, cotton cloths etc from shops which are produced by the farmers. Farmers contribute a lot in a countries economy. Most of the developed countries have a very strong agriculture background. Good farming helps the country to be self sufficient. I would like to write about my uncle, who is a farmer from my native place in Kerala, India. His name is Madambath Muralidharan. My grandfather was a farmer and my uncle continued his legacy. My father was not interested in farming, so he migrated to Mumbai for work. My dad always told me that my uncle was very passionate about farming. He used to accompany my grandfather from his childhood days to the farm and he was very curious about small details. He has been a farmer for last 50 years. His farming includes horticulture and animal husbandry. He produces banana, coconut and some vegetables like bitter gourd, long beans, yellow and white pumpkin
